I think it is safe to say that Spring has finally sprung! It’s the time of year where everything starts to come back to life here in Michigan, and with the yearly renewal comes an attention to the health of our planet. Earth Day is just around the corner, Saturday April 22nd to be exact, and there are some exciting things happening to better our world right here in West Michigan.

Advanced Technology Recycling located in Grand Rapids neighboring city, Wyoming, is celebrating Earth day in a big way. They are going for not one, but two Guinness World Records. The goal is to collect one million pounds of e-waste. Advanced Technology Recycling currently holds one Guinness World Record, but this time around they plan to not only break their own record but two additional records as well.

This service is very important in aiding the health of our planet because it keeps harmful materials, such as leaded glass and mercury, out of landfill and lessens the potential for these materials to leach into our soil.

The best part about this service, aside from the main goal of helping our planet, is that the service is completely free of charge. Celebrating Earth Day is as easy as collecting your old electronics and driving to Advanced Technology Recycling at their 3714 Jefferson location and dropping them off!
