Cloud Computing+SMBs = Variety of Savings
These days, many small and midsize organizations are moving their email, servers and storage to the cloud, resulting in increased financial and productivity savings. Moving business apps to the cloud can also save on energy use by up to 87% according to a study conducted by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Northwestern University and commissioned by Google.
The six-month study, detailed in Computer Weekly and highlighted in an IBM blog analyzes the difference in the carbon footprint between the cloud and traditional computing. The study found that a cloud migration can save up to 23 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.
This study is yet one more reason for organizations to sincerely consider moving business apps to the cloud.
