On Saturday, March 7, a few i3 employees served the Grand Rapids Child Discovery Center (GRCDC), a local K-5 school, who needed assistance in setting up a computer lab.
i3 employee, Patrick Kuras and Mary Witte, board member at GRCDC, coordinated the project. Arthuro Abanilla and Andy Kaiser along with four of Arthuro’s students were ready for the challenge and more than willing to help.
Their to-do list was lengthy - get cable up in the computer lab, set up 20+ PCs, ensure Windows on the PCs was working, and set up the physical layout of the room so it would be a functional space. In less than a day's time, i3-provided volunteers and GRCDC workers created a computer lab ready for student use.
John Robinson, the GRCDC onsite coordinator, was extremely pleased and appreciative of i3’s services at zero cost and expertise in completing this project. It has been 10+ years since the school has had a proper computer lab – so this is a huge accomplishment!
If interested in learning more about the Grand Rapids Child Discovery Center, they will be hosting an open house on Wednesday, March 18th. More information can be found at their website http://childdiscoverycenter.org/
